Each year we host critics and alternative thinkers from around the world, but To CCA, From… lives online, a meeting space for online visitors to encounter our collection, programs, and ideas from different perspectives. Inspired by postcards, tweets, diaries, blogs, dispatches, radio reports, and television documentaries, it is unlimited by media.
Axel Sowa of L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui was in residence in 2008, and his work here aided the formulation of Candide, the first issue of which became available in 2010. Sina Najafi of Cabinet magazine visited in 2009; his stay produced Cabinet issue 37, and the exhibition The Bubble at the CCA.
Geoff Manaugh of BLDGBLOG was in residence for the summer of 2010 for a project developed with the CCA called Blogger in the Archives. In 2011, the architectural critic and writer Tim Abrahams (of Cosmopolitan Scum) was our guest. In 2012, the editor of Design Observer’s series Places Nancy Levinson is Editor in the Archives.
Abroad is a related series of excursions and conversations between CCA staff and critical thinkers around the world. Sometimes we speak face to face, sometimes we look at computer screens.
