Scope and Content

Series consists of records compiled by the Foreign Office Architects in relation to the firm's external activities. The records relate to new business opportunities and competitions, exhibitions of their work, publications profiling the firm, invitations to lecture, and architectural award proceedings. The series also includes promotional material generated by the office, including practice profiles, formal photographic portraits, FOA Christmas cards, and a collection of over 800 periodicals featuring the Foreign Office Architects and their work. Material in this series was produced between 1995 and 2010.

Series is arranged by subject into 6 sub-series: Exhibitions; Publicity Files, Periodicals and Newspapers; Request for Qualifications and Competitions; Promotional Material; Awards; and Administrative Files. These sub-series represent the original order and labelling of this material by the Foreign Office Architects, but it should be noted that there is a minimal amount of overlap between some of the sub-series. For example, there are some textual records in the sub-series Periodicals and Newspapers that are actually related to Exhibitions. Where this type of overlap occurs, original order of the material has been maintained and it has been noted in each individual file.

Series contains textual records, photographic materials, awards, periodicals, newspapers, and a minimal amount of notes and sketches.
