Scope and Content

File documents the 4th Gwangju Biennale, South Korea, held from 29 March to 29 June 29, 2002. The Biennale's theme was P_A_U_S_E, and it was curated by Charles Esche, Hou Hanru and Sung Wan Kyung, with artistic director Wan-kyung Sung. The exhibition "invited the participation of non-profit and experimental art groups and movements from throughout the world to promote communication, and to propose a withdrawal from the narrative of modern art history, even from modern society itself, in an effort to build a new way forward". Material in this file was produced between 2000 and 2002.

File contains correspondence, planning notes, artist contracts and preliminary drawings.
