Scope and content:
File documents the Foreign Office Architects’ design-scheme for the Minories Office Development project, London, England. Their design for an office complex consisted of three crystal-like buildings, ranging in height from 12 to 22 storeys for a total area of 170,000m2, and included a new entrance to Aldgate Underground station. This scheme was part of a series of three mixed-use buildings planned by Beetham Organization Ltd on a large development site. The Foreign Office Architects worked with ARUP Engineering, Edmund Kirby Land Surveyors, Atelier Ten Consulting Environmental Engineers, WSP Cantor Seinuk, DP9 Planning Consultants Structures Ltd, kks, REEF Associates Ltd, and Kevan Shaw Lighting Design, and also received tender submission packages from Schindler Ltd Projects Division, Kone plc., ThyssenKrupp Elevator UK, GIG Passadenbau, Sir Robert Mcalpine Ltd, Severfield-Reeve, and Otis. The scheme was approved by the City of London in January 2008, but development was subsequently placed on hold and the Foreign Office Architects did not ultimately remain involved in the project. Material in this file was produced between 2004 and 2007.
File contains project documentation, drawings, plans and presentation material.
