Summary:

In 2010, after the most intense earthquakes and tsunami registered in modern history of Chile, the architectural firm of Pezo von Ellrichshausen of Concepcion conceived an innovative and ambitious proposal titled project META. Meta's main propose was to "restitute the local identities" of 10 small towns along the coast in the region of Biobío with the management and design of a "Pavilions", small building of cultural infrastructure that would contribute to reactivate the public life of these communities. Each pavilion was assigned to a different a architectural firm: Alberto Campo Baeza (Spain), Adamo Faiden (Argentina), Johnston Marklee (USA), Studio Mumbai (India), Pezo von Ellrichshausen (Chile), Sean Godsell (Australia), Paulo David (Portugal), Rintala Eggertsson (Norway), Sergison Bates (England) and OFFICE Kersten Geers David van Severen (Blgium). After the final design of these projects, META will be in its final phase, in which each municipality will provide the funds for the cosntruction of the pavilions. The book includes an epilogue by David Leatherbarrow.
