Guillaume Simoneau presents his new book Experimental Lake (MACK, 2018). The book shares its name with a sparsely populated region of 58 once-pristine lakes and watersheds located in northwestern Ontario. Since 1968 this “natural laboratory” has been used study the effects of various stresses on the aquatic environment and its research has shaped environmental policies internationally. For Simoneau, the lakes are not a subject but a vantage point from which to begin. Simoneau first studied applied science before turning to photography. His project Love and War was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago and published by Dewi Lewis in 2013.
