Public Studio is a collective comprised of filmmaker Elle Flanders and architect Tamira Sawatzky. Their multidisciplinary art practice is characterized by large-scale public art works, lens-based works, films, and immersive installations often in collaboration with other artists.
In 2018, the Art Gallery of York published The Long Now: Public Studio. Edited by curators Emelie Chhangur and Philip Monk, this monographic publication documents early project and highlights the processes underlying them as well as their recurring socio-political concerns such as political dissent, war and militarization, ecology, and urbanization.
Flanders and Sawatzky will be joined in conversation by Chantal Pontbriand.
