We invite you to discover the creative thinking behind some of Montréal’s most beloved public spaces, including the Lipstick Forest, The Ring, and Dorchester Square, at the premiere of a new oral history film on Claude Cormier. Produced by The Cultural Landscape Foundation, the film reveals compelling and entertaining insights into Cormier’s life, design philosophy, and significant built works.
Cormier’s impact on the profession of landscape architecture and the built environment was substantial. His works, developed with his practice CCxA, have been described as bold and playful. CCxA’s most recent addition to Montréal’s public space, The Ring unifies an urban context and becomes its focal point while also framing a view to the historic Mount Royal, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. In his designs, Cormier invited people to laugh, to come together, and to see things differently.
