Summary:
From the outset, American artist Betty Woodman (born 1930) has used ceramics as her medium of expression and artistic research, and it has made her one of the most influential and original voices on the international art scene. Bridging the gap between art and craft, Woodman moves nimbly between the traditions of an age-old medium, taking inspiration from Minoan and Egyptian art, Greek and Etruscan sculpture, Tang Dynasty works, majolica and Sèvres porcelain, Italian Baroque architecture and the paintings of Bonnard, Picasso and Matisse, while also introducing innovations in both style and technique. This publication focuses on work made over the past ten years, while taking stock of Woodman's continued relevance to contemporary art and her importance among postwar artists.

Summary:
This publication invites the reader to learn about and from Maternal Fantasies ´ feminist research and collective artistic practice on motherhood(s), care work and representation in the arts. Composed of seven interdisciplinary artists / mothers and ten children, Maternal Fantasies takes the social invisibility of the maternal experience as a point of departure to produce films, images, and performances of fantastical visibility. Through personal writing exercises and collective performance scores, they align themselves with ancestral figures of feminist discourses and artmaking, in order to establish new vocabularies and narratives around the maternal for future generations. As both a handbook and an archive of feminist artmaking, this publication (re-)assembles maternal experiences, reflective essays, autobiographical writing, instructional scores, selected artworks, and a manifesto for a caring economy.

Summary:
Sibylle Eimermacher is a German-born artist who has lived in the Netherlands for more than two decades. A few years ago, the reds, browns, and purples of granite and porphyry found on sandy Dutch terrains caught her eye. Research into these glacial erratics pointed her to two regions, the Dalarna province in Sweden and the Åland archipelago in Finland, reawakening her urge to travel north. This book is the outcome of her quest, leading to where the rocks lay bare, to the open veins that pigment the landscape as they leave behind their native Scandinavian bedrock to eventually fade into the Dutch flatlands – a surrender to the universal condition of constant change.

Summary:
This publication presents a comprehensive survey of the artist’s oeuvre and an overview of her exhibitions of the past three decades. The luxuriant equatorial forests and voluptuous vegetation of Brazil and the cultural implications of plant genera and flowers are integral to the imagery of Luzia Simons’s art. In watercolors, paintings, photographs, and tapestries, the artist probes the impenetrable role that nature plays, employing pictorial techniques of her own devising to create poetic studies of forms and colors. Simons is a pioneer in the development of the scanogram—a media technique that combines elements of painting and photography. Arranging blossoms and leaves of a wide range of tulip cultivars on a high-resolution scanner, she produces imposing works that boast intense and brilliant colors and stupendous definition. Just as nature and culture are in constant transformation, identities never remain fixed: that is what Simons’s work illustrates to stunning effect.
