In 1991, at the direction of Guy Debord, all copies of the book were pulped. This carefully produced first edition in English combines book and a game-board and counters allowing readers to play “at home” according to the rules given.

Scholars have long known that Chaucer read and was influenced by Dante, but they have debated the effect Dante had on Chaucer's poetry. In this book, the author demonstrates that Chaucer's reaction to The Divine Comedy shaped the most fondamental aspects of his poetic art - the way he handles time within his stories, his attitudes toward language and authority, and above all, his presentation of the credibility of his fictional worlds, which she terms 'narrative authentication.'

Summary:

Summary:

Summary:
Empire is a sweeping book with a big-picture vision. Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri argue that while classical imperialism has largely disappeared, a new empire is emerging in a diffuse blend of technology, economics, and globalization. The book brings together unlikely bedfellows: Hardt, associate professor in Duke University's literature program, and Negri, among other things a writer and inmate at Rebibbia Prison in Rome. Empire aspires to the same scale of grand political philosophy as Locke or Marx or Fukuyama, but whether Hardt and Negri accomplish this daunting task is debatable. It is, however, an exciting book that is especially timely following the emergence of terrorism as a geopolitical force.
