Roger Narboni livre ici sa réflexion sur la conception d’ambiances lumineuses, à l’intérieur des bâtiments comme à l’échelle des espaces publics. Si une ambiance lumineuse résulte de l’interaction de la lumière, d’un individu, d’un espace et d’un usage, comment, entre divers éclairages, choisir le plus approprié à un lieu et à une activité donnés ?Comment, dans l’éclairage artificiel, remettre à sa juste place l’aspect fonctionnel pour mettre en avant la création d’une ambiance? La première partie, illustrée d’une vingtaine de projets, fournit des outils d’analyse sur la manière dont l’éclairage peut construire notre environnement quotidien. Lumière et ambiances est un guide destiné aux professionnels et aux maîtres d’ouvrage aussi bien qu’aux usagers, pour leur permettre de mieux appréhender le rôle prépondérant que jouent les ambiances lumineuses dans nos lieux de vie quotidiens. C’est un plaidoyer en faveur de la mise en place systématique d’éclairages d’ambiance dépassant leur strict rôle fonctionnel pour mettre en valeur l’architecture et les sites et en offrir une perception renouvelée.
