Wolfgang Laib’s concentrated installations are touching in an immediate and fundamental way, perhaps because they also address various levels of early childhood consciousness. Beeswax tunnels are redolent with an overwhelming scent of sweet honey and pollen; powdery piles of pollen are such a luminous yellow that you want to put your hands in it and play. Visitors to(...)

Summary:
Wolfgang Laib’s concentrated installations are touching in an immediate and fundamental way, perhaps because they also address various levels of early childhood consciousness. Beeswax tunnels are redolent with an overwhelming scent of sweet honey and pollen; powdery piles of pollen are such a luminous yellow that you want to put your hands in it and play. Visitors to the installations are "opened up" to the spiritual dimension, become aware of the energetic presence of the natural materials shown, and are prepared for a spiritual and intellectual encounter with their symbolic content. This retrospective monograph features all of the key categories of Laib’s oeuvre, establishing the unique position and great auratic power of works that consistently question crucial issues.

Summary:
Famous for massive public art projects, including "Wrapped Coast, One Million Square Feet" in Australia and "Running Fence" in Northern California, Christo Javacheff and his wife Jeanne-Claude were used to dealing with intransigent bureaucracies. But they hadn't reckoned with New York City. The couple's 1979 project--temporarily placing thousands of saffron-colored banners across the walkways of 843-acre Central Park--did not receive the city's blessing until 2003. Published in advance of the 16-day installation in February 2005, Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Gates is a picture book that moves briskly from photographs of early presentations and hearings to numerous shots of workers assembling the steel, aluminum, vinyl and rip-stop nylon components of the piece.

Summary:
Susan Cianciolo (Rhode Island, 1969) is a New York based fashion designer and artist. Cianciolo began her career in 1995 after graduating from Parsons School of Design, by collaborating with Kim Gordon on the X-Girl clothing line, while around the same time starting her own Run collection mixing clothing with film and performance art which for 10 years involved the collaboration of some of New Yorks leading artists and musicians. The Lilac Spaceship Fanzine, created over the last year, embodies the idea of what has been Cianciolos most fond images to be inspired by and the complete joy and magical beauty of having her baby - Lilac Sky - who inspired the completion and the title of this publication, ..since she is another dimension, just like a space ship!. Susan Cianciolo has been included in i-Ds Fashion Now book, among 150 of the most important designers of our times, and she has been one of the pioneers in using eco friendly materials in her collections. Her illustrations and paintings have also been exhibited worldwide in several galleries and museums.
