Summary:
Since the late 20th century, political regulations, internationalisation, and rapid digitalisation are only a few factors that have significantly transformed the environments within which European institutions of architectural education operate. In adapting and adhering to such changes, schools of architecture strive to develop innovative, didactic, programmatic, or spatial models that are distinguishable. Through eighteen case studies, four of which are presented in detail, this book highlights tendencies in architectural education beyond academia, illustrating the interdependence between the educational model and its spatial disposition, and revealing potential new schools of thought.

Summary:

Summary:

Summary:
A window is a mediating device between our body and the environment: by simply opening or closing it, we can regulate air, light, and sight. Both climatic and cultural conditions, alongside technological developments, shape the architecture of windows. Due to its mountains, climate, and geographical position at the heart of Europe, Switzerland has generated a wide variety of window forms. Presented here is a collection of windows gathered from field research, with full-page hand drawings portraying each window as part of a complex network of elements. Short texts offer insight into the historical, technological, and socioeconomic conditions of each spatial configuration.

The third volume in a four-part series on ALICE's teachings, ''Beyond the Object: The Imagination of Space'' follows up on ''The House 1 Catalogue'' and ''The Invention of Space'', proposing an alternative cultural history of architecture derived from the notion of spatial design rather than technical engineering and construction. Among the topics discussed are the common and scientific understandings of space and how they can be applied to contemporary architectural practice. Using Zurich as an exemplar of urban planning and development, the new volume combines fact with fiction to broaden the view upon future scenarios.

Summary:
‘Project Stories’ invites an eclectic constellation of architectural practices from across the globe to tell the story of one of their significant built works. Each volume brings together three such stories accompanied by conversations with the individual architects. These behind-the-scenes examinations chronicle how an idea is conceived, revealing the diverse approaches and confluences of various fields that go into making a work of architecture. The series takes the form of a visual reader as a way to better conceptualise the works and practices, all equally diverse and equally legitimate. This second volume features BARarchitekten, Francesca Torzo Architetto, and Wolff Architects.

Summary:
Over a period of three decades, from 1958 to 1988, the New South Wales Government Architect’s Office (GAO) in Australia realised nearly a thousand buildings across the state. This enormous production was the direct result of an ideological choice, one that involved a brutal commitment to building architecture that was merely adequate. In terms of scale and ambition, the GAO’s operation resembles the laying out of the Roman Empire. It built the infrastructure that holds the territory together, and in doing so literally constructed the state while obliterating the pre-existing country. Through numerous examples, this volume meticulously documents the phenomenon.

Promiscuous Encounters, a day-long event organized by Francisco Díaz, Nina Valerie Kolowratnik, Marcelo López-Dinardi, and Marina Otero Verzier and held at the GSAPP in March 2012, examined the interplay between the critical, curatorial, and conceptual capacities of architecture by asking a diverse group of theorists and practitioners to discuss their modes of promiscuous practice. Challenging the way in which a symposium is commonly recorded, for the discussion between Keller Easterling, Andrés Jaque, Reinhold Martin, Mitch McEwen, Markus Miessen, Felicity D. Scott, Pelin Tan, Rodrigo Tisi, and Mark Wasiuta, neither audio nor video recordings were made.
