AP144.S2.D95
Description:
File documents unexecuted modifications to an exterior swimming pool area for a hotel located in Firth of Forth, Scotland. The hotel burned down before the construction could begin (Shubert, with Price). Conceptual sketches show a design for a structure to cover the pool. The proposed programme for the project states that: "An outdoors swimming pool is a source of voluntary delight. Being outside is a particular quality which must not be lost through misapplied protection. In all cases this unique element of glamour related to site, season, time of day and occupancy must be exploited." Photographs document the existing site and structures. Material in this file was produced in 1975. Joe Lyons, of Lyons catering and teahouse businesses, was also the client for O.C.H. Feasibility Study (AP144.S2.D59) and Blackpool Project (AP144.S2.D81). Frederick Salmon, of Salmon and Gluckstein, owned Lyons' businesses and was the client representative for Scotswim, O.C.H. Feasibility Study, and Blackpool Project (Shubert, with Price, 1996). Information on attribution based on the content of the file and on notes by Howard Shubert, CCA Curator of Prints and Drawings, in conversation with Cedric Price. File contains conceptual drawings.

AP075.S1.1968.PR01
Description:
This project series documents Cornelia Hahn Oberlander's landscape project for the playground of the North Shore Neighbourhood House in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Oberlander worked on this project in 1968. The landscape concept was to encourage creative play for toddlers and preschool-age children. In this idea, Oberlander created “a story-high platform only accessible by ladder that provided opportunities for children to test their courage and physical strength.” [1] She also designed seating placed around the base of preserved mature trees to provide social spaces. The playground also included a large sand box, a winding stone-lined pool, and child-size vehicles and play props. Project series contains sketches, design development drawings, including playground general plan and installation details, a presentation drawing, and working drawings, such as play structures installation plans, elevation, sections and details plans for the play structure. The project is also documented through specifications for the projects and photographs of the completed playground. Source: [1] Herrington, Susan. Cornelia Hahn Oberlander: Making the Modern Landscape, University of Virginia Press, 2014, 304 pages. p. 109.

Description:
- A student project for a glass exhibition building entitled "Exp[osition] d'Horticulture" and described in elevation, plan, and section. The plan shows a square structure with circular pavilions in the corners and entrances in the middle of each side. The elevation (showing the principal façade) indicates that the main hall is a tripartite structure with a tall, barrel-vaulted mid-section flanked by two lower, semi-barrel-vaulted sections. This main hall is encased by a one-storey gallery connecting the four pavilions in the corners.
