he combination of pictorial motifs and words or sentences has long been a special feature of Ed Ruscha’s (born 1937) paintings. Summary:
he combination of pictorial motifs and words or sentences has long been a special feature of Ed Ruscha’s (born 1937) paintings. As he himself commented in an interview in 1989: "Words are pattern-like, and in their horizontality they answer my investigation into landscape ... they are almost not words--they are objects that become words." This attraction to combinations of word and image has naturally disposed Ruscha toward the book as an art form, and as both an object and subject in his paintings. This volume commemorates a bequest of paintings, photographs and books by Ruscha to the Museum Brandhorst in Munich, complementing their existing works.

Summary:
''Tropical reading: photobook and self-publishing'' illustrates the photography practitioners and artist collectives from each city in Southeast Asia, examining why they chose to get into self-publishing. It explores how independent art bookstores came to be the social parlours of the self-publishing crowd. Furthermore, observes how the outsider artists, archives and arts initiatives of Southeast Asia came to shape the face of photography and self-publishing in their respective cities. The index is a compilation of our project field research, condensing the profiles of all the interviewees – from people to bookstores to organisations – to make a kind of alternative Yellow Pages for the Southeast Asian art scene.

Summary:
Daniel Spoerri was a co-signatory of the Nouveau Réalisme manifesto in 1960, an early member of Fluxus and the author of the classic "Anecdoted Topography of Chance", which recorded and annotated the contents of Spoerri's desk. In 1968 Spoerri also opened Restaurant Spoerri, introducing his concept of "Eat Art," which he had initiated a decade earlier, and which explored the creation, decay and "trapping" of food upon tables that were then recapitulated as assemblages. Marking the occasion of the artist's eightieth birthday, this publication approaches the theme of food throughout Spoerri's oeuvre, from the early 1960s to the present. It includes the artist's replica of the Restaurant Spoerri, a survey of Spoerri's trap pictures from 1978 to 1992, and a large number of more recent assemblages and sculptures, bringing his audience fully up to date.
