Summary:
For Domicile Conjugal – a title borrowed from François Truffaut's movie of 1970 – Katagiri ( Sapporo, 1977 ) selects details from drawings made during the course of 2008. Her first published book focuses on architecture from a richly illustrated world built upon since 2003. Drawn freehand and without drafts, Katagiri's skillful pen drawings give birth to a dimension populated by people and intelligent animals, hanging in the balance of the playful physics unique to her craft. The staple ingredients of traditional Japanese art – mountains, trees, architecture and daily activity – are present but free of the structured compositions and realism. Instead we find a collision between the eccentricity of the west and the precision of the eastern tradition.

Summary:
With his landmark 1919 painting The City, Fernand Léger (1881-1955) inaugurated a vitally experimental decade during which he and others redefined the practice of painting in confrontation with the forms of cultural production that were central to urban life, ranging from graphic and advertising design to theatre, dance, film and architecture. This catalogue casts new light on the painting (reproducing all of its studies together for the first time), the avant-garde use of print media, and Léger's fascination with cinema and architecture, and contextualizes a network of international avant-gardes - including Blaise Cendrars, Le Corbusier, Jean Epstein, Piet Mondrian, Amedee Ozenfant, Francis Picabia and Theo van Doesburg - in relation to Léger.

Summary:
The artist (born in 1961 in Madrid, resident in Chicago) has been creating multiform works that deal with social and political borderline situations for over a decade. His work demonstrates how certain powers and systems, whether natural or created by human beings, affect the world we live in. This is a comprehensive documentation of the exhibition The Krefeld suite: installations in the two Mies Villas in Krefeld. Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle , multimedia artist and Mies van der Rohe specialist, has created a cinematographic installation especially for the Krefeld Mies Villa, where he shows the relationship between their architecture and the “architecture” of icebergs. The installations are built around the theme of time in the dynamic relationship between prehistoric, historic and contemporary time.
