What is architectural form? What does architectural form mean? And why is it so significant today? Despite the historical signi?cance of form in architecture, the subject is frequently undervalued in debate. The publication The Form of Form examines a variety of ideas regarding form, not only through aesthetic and technological approaches, but also from social and political points of view. "The form of form" is the official publication of the same-named 4th Lisbon Architecture Triennale. The content of the book underlines the cultural and technical relevance of architecture within society. It aims to foster new thoughts as we reach the dawn of a rapidly changing society driven by fast access to information. After all the tensions and frictions that happen during the physical and social transformations of our cities and landscapes, when all the fuss is over and the different agents who contributed to change have left the field of play, what is left is a built form. Citizens live among forms; architectural forms have endured from the past and they will populate the future.

Summary:
This comprehensive book accompanies the first retrospective exhibition of Lewis Baltz’s work following his passing in 2014. It explores the artist’s oeuvre as a complex whole of interrelated series, from his first Prototypes and the Tract Houses to Park City, San Quentin Point and Candlestick Point, through to New Sites of Technology and Venezia Marghera. The book simultaneously locates Baltz’s work in the context of photography and contemporary art since the 1970s, to fully examine his influence and legacy. Baltz is one of the most prominent representatives of the New Topographics movement, which was seminal to the development of conceptual photography. His photo series document the impact of industrial civilization on the landscape, focusing on places outside the bounds of canonical reception: urban wastelands, abandoned industrial sites, warehouses. Baltz’s strategies reflect a deep knowledge of the history of photography and present the photographer as a teacher of seeing.

All that is needed is time or a change of sentiment or circumstance. Waste is not merely the field of discarded objects, but the name we give to our troubled relationship with the decaying world outside ourselves. Waste focuses on those waste objects that most fundamentally shape our lives and also attempts to understand our complicated emotional and intellectual relationships to our own refuse: nuclear waste, climate debris, pop-culture rubbish, digital detritus, and more.

Summary:
The mall near Mat thew Newton's childhood home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was one of the state's first enclosed shopping malls. Like all malls in their heyday, this one was a climate-controlled pleasuredome where strangers converged. It boasted waterfalls, fish ponds, an indoor ice skating rink larger than Rockefeller Center's, and a monolithic clock tower illuminated year-round beneath a canopy of interconnected skylights. It also became the backdrop for filmmaker George A. Romero's zombie opus "Dawn of the Dead". Part memoir and part case study, Shopping Mall examines the modern mythology of the mall and shows that, more than a collection of stores, it is a place of curiosity, ritual, and fantasy.

'First we shape things, then they shape us', was Churchill's view. What kind of architecture can be said to shape? And by what means does it shape? The author's answer to this question is a surprise: through war and proximity to stress. After a tour d'horizon through Roman temples, Washington's corridors of power and Mecca's anti-panic architecture it becomes clear that architecture is anything but in the background. Instead it is situated in the hot spot of transmission dynamics and is capable of altering cultures, empires and even religions.

Summary:
In The Conspiracy of Art, Baudrillard questions the privilege attached to art by its practitioners. Art has lost all desire for illusion: feeding back endlessly into itself, it has turned its own vanishment into an art unto itself. Far from lamenting the "end of art," Baudrillard celebrates art's new function within the process of insider-trading. Spiraling from aesthetic nullity to commercial frenzy, art has become transaesthetic, like society as a whole. Conceived and edited by life-long Baudrillard collaborator Sylvère Lotringer, The Conspiracy of Art presents Baudrillard's writings on art in a complicitous dance with politics, economics, and media. Culminating with "War Porn," a scathing analysis of the spectacular images from Abu Ghraib prison as a new genre of reality TV, the book folds back on itself to question the very nature of radical thought.
