Summary:
Kress & Adams belong to the most renowned offices for daylight and artificial light planning in the German-speaking countries. Amongst their best known lighting projects are the Museums Quarter in Vienna, the ship-building hall in Zurich, the art gallery in Graz and the gas containers in Simmering. One of Kress & Adams´ great strengths is their ability to interpret and express the architect´s spatial vision with light. Their integrated lighting concepts are derived primarily from the architecture whilst taking into consideration the functional requirements. The development of individual light fittings is also an essential part of creating a successful dialogue between architecture and lighting: minimalist and highly expressive forms with a great degree of technical expertise are characteristic of their light designs.

What is the significance of sex work for the architecture of the city? With reports from Amsterdam, Antwerp, Hong Kong, Montreal, and Taipei, this book makes clear that every red light district is the specific outcome of the morphology of the city, the legal status of sex work, cultural understandings, city planning, and market forces. It also shows that sex work has a deep impact on the city's urban form, its buildings, rooms, streets, squares, and alleys, even in places where sex work is officially illegal.

Summary:
The rhythmograms of Heinrich Heidersberger (1906-2006) are intricately curved compositions of pure light that weave together abstract figures, organisms and space. The artist created these complex light patterns during the 1950s and 1960s, capturing the invisible and elusive worlds of time and motion in a single frame. Widely known as an architectural photographer of postwar modernism, Heidersberger's little-known rhythmograms serve as a fascinating bridge between the work of early modernists and the future of algorithmic art and architecture. This is the first critical study of these rhythmograms in all their delicate detail.

Summary:
Architectural photographer Juan Rodríguez brings his keen eye and perceptive sense of form, mass, and light to this extensive series of photographs featuring the architecture of Manuel Aires Mateus. In documenting work by this famed Portuguese architect, which has a strongly sculptural nature, Rodríguez has opted for the stark contrasts and dramatic lighting effects of black-and-white film. The buildings with their geometric shapes are usually white, possessing characteristic clean lines and bold volumes that stand out dramatically in their respective contexts, whether a natural landscape or urban setting.
