File documents an unrealized project for the Sheffield Festival which was organized by the University of Sheffield Union of Students, in Sheffield, England, United Kingdom. An early proposal by Feliks Topolski and Cedric Price called for lightweight and movable gem-shaped enclosures of metal tubing, and fibreglass panels to be illustrated by Topolski. Later proposals involved the participation of Richard Hamilton, Robyn Denny, Bernard Cohen, and Joe Tilson. Material in this file includes conceptual sketches, detail sketches of support system, reprographic copies from original drawings, and photographic views of a model. Some material in this file was published in Price, Cedric, with Peter Murray. 'The Second Instalment in the Cedric Price Supplement Series', 'Architectural Design', vol. 41, (January 1971), 38. Feliks Topolski and Cedric Price also collaborated on a later project (see Topolski/Waterloo AP144.S2.D88). Material in the file was produced between 1964 and 1968. Project series AP154.S1.1979.PR01, George & Annette Murphy Center at Asphalt Green, New York, N.Y. (1979), documents an executed project to recycle a municipal asphalt plant into a youth sports and arts center. Clients for the project were the New York City Department of General Services and the Neighborhood Committee for the Asphalt Green, chaired by Dr. George Murphy. The asphalt plant was a parabolic structure built in the 1940s by the firm Kahn and Jacobs. Pasanella + Klein worked on the adaptive reuse project with HOK, successors to Kahn and Jacobs. The transformed interior includes two gymnasia of different sizes, a running track, art and photography studios, offices, lockers, showers and a theatre. Description:
This project series documents a study to determine the location of the RCMP building at the Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario in 1984. The office identified the project number as 8406. Since the early 1960s, John B. Parkin Associates, and later John C. Parkin's new firm Parkin Architects Planners, had been commissioned by the government Department of Transport Air Services (now Transport Canada) to complete more than a dozen projects at the Toronto International Airport, including terminals one and two. This project consisted of a study to determine the best location for the RCMP at the airport. At the time of the study, the RCMP were located in terminal one, but the growing needs of other airport departments had pushed them into a temporary location. This study investigated two possible options, the construction of a new police building or the renovation of the central workshop facility. The report suggested the latter option, which could house the RCMP offices, technical and exhibit spaces, holding cells, storage and support facilities. The project is recorded through textual records dating from 1984, which consist of the project proposal and risk and cost analysis sheets.

Description:
Project series documents Cornelia Hahn Oberlander's proposal for the landscape master plan of Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary. Oberlander worked on this project in the early 2000s. Oberlander was in charged of developping the concept for the landscape master plan and create a healing garden. Her concept included a site entry with a strong presence of the nature to reassure the visitor, the use of native plants to keep the landscape of the hospital in harmony with site natural landscape, the use of plants that encourage and support wildlife to allow sick children to appreciate nature, outdoor seating areas and pathways with lighting to be used even at nightime, and environments for play and learning for sick children and their relatives. A participatory method was also applied for the design of the master plan throughout workshops organized with the children of the hospital in which they were invited to draw what they wanted for the healing garden. The project series contains landscape plans, site plans, landscape concept plans, site concept plans and presentation drawings. The project is also documented through Oberlander's concept notes, correspondence, including correspondence with client, Oberlander's landscape proposal, landscape concept presentation documents, financial documents, research material, and photographs of the site for the hospital.

This project consisted of alterations to the press hall of that building. These alterations were done to accommodate a future press, referred to as Press D, by installing new floor tracks, an additional ink tank in the ink room, and stairs and mezzanine supports. The project is recorded through drawings, a mounted photograph of the printing press and textual records dating from 1982. The drawings consist of a floor plan, framing plan, sections, details and mechanical plans, while textual records include site reports, financial records, conference reports and correspondence.

Series 2, TopSolid development, 1992 - 2011, documents Bernard Cache’s contribution to the development of the software TopSolid. This series includes born-digital material and chiefly dates from 1999 - 2008. Created in 1987 by Missler software, TopSolid was one of the first computer-aided design (CAD) software usable on portable computers. Bernard Cache was an early adopter of TopSolid and was later asked to contribute to the development of further versions of the software. It then became one of the first pieces of software to support both CAD and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), which resulted from a radical proposition to link parametric design software seamlessly to robotic manufacturing. Bernard Cache’s contribution to this project underscores his interest for mathematics, geometry, and engineering reflected in his other areas of architectural and design work. Materials in this series portray Cache’s role in the development of the software. This includes programming records for the codes and configuration of the software which are primarily in plain text formats, still images and CAD formats (TopSolid). It also includes programming records for TopWood,an alternate software derived from TopSolid and developed to target the specificities of the wood industry. There are also a significant number of textual records, which constitutes training documents, bug reports, and correspondence (in Word and Excel formats).
