Summary:
This first volume in a series examining intersections between architectural theory and practice addresses environmental crisis and spatial justice through four essays. Marc Angélil and Cary Siress trace the evolution from Technocene, Thermocene, Plantationocene, to Entropocene, Capitalocene, and Urbicene. Elke Krasny reflects on scales of care within social justice and decolonization. Contributors explore the "Curated Diner" as a planning intervention. Finally, Space Caviar advocates for a non-extractive approach to architecture as part of a broader economic transformation. These interdisciplinary contributions aim to reshape the discourse and discuss equitable, inclusive, and intergenerational practices.

Urban design and wildness may seem at odds, yet as cities evolve, wildness is increasingly seen as a resource - shaping how we think about and create our living environments. From urban gardening to rewilding projects, wild practices are gaining ground. Are these trends signs of genuine transformation or just the commercialization of sustainability? How are other disciplines rethinking wildness? And how can architects and planners engage critically with these ideas? "Let’s Talk Wild!" brings together 12 interdisciplinary voices in a multi-layered dialogue on chaos, creativity, and the complex meanings of wildness.

Archaeological research has uncovered the remains of five consecutive churches and outbuildings there. The current chapel from 1924 is still intact. In 2011 interior architect Tom Callebaut led the transformation of this chapel into a contemporary space for contemplation. Nine years later, photographer Geert Goiris was invited to visualize the experience of this space, which is still a beacon of theology and reflection. A text by Herman Lombaerts accompanies the series of images.

Summary:
For the French philosopher Miguel Abensour, the fictional genre of utopia has provided thinkers and artists a fertile ground to explore for the past 500 years, both as a way to imagine new emancipatory practices of shared existence and as a tyrannical imposition of power. Here, Abensour’s project is to examine the idea of utopia in two different but powerful moments in its trajectory: first, utopia’s beginning, when Thomas More sought a path for justice through a world in transformation, and second, when utopia faced its greatest danger, the moment that Walter Benjamin called “catastrophe.”

Summary:
The study of the museum visitor has undergone a radical transformation. This collection brings together imaginative research that encourages new conclusions. Some questions involve the visitor's identity, what she brings to her museum experience. Can we gain entry into this experience? Does more technology really increase access to the objects themselves? Others probe the very nature of museum-going and exhibition making, demanding that we reexamine the traditional exhibition to reposition the visitor and her meaning-making at the center. Each author here has asked unfamiliar questions and responded with fresh answers.

Summary:
The normative order and authoritarian use of conventional archives has long been criticised. This volume investigates the digitally informed transformation and multiplication of archives today, in conjunction with the increase in both accessibility and the amount of data produced, stored, and circulated. Despite improved search capabilities, documents, photographs, and other images are in danger of vanishing. Yet new knowledge, connotations, and materialities are also emerging. Through various texts and artworks, a selection of contemporary artistic and research-based approaches to existing archives, the act of collecting images, and creating new archives is represented.

Summary:
Form and Formlessness is an experimental research project that investigates how aesthetic abstractions are developed through three approaches: An educational approach concerned with developing an aesthetic discipline, supporting a formgiving process aimed to create tangible artifacts. An art-based approach supporting an open exploration of distortion and formlessness. A cross-disciplinary exploratory approach concerned with aesthetic experiences shared in laborations demonstrating complexity and transformation. The thesis offers methods and models that both support and challenge the normative concepts of beauty, with high relevance for teaching 3-D formgiving aesthetics and research by design methodologies.
