Des interventions d'aménagement dans de petites localités de Suisse romande témoignent de la possibilité et de la fécondité d'une autre voie, celle du "projet". L'enfeu est énorme. La logique de la protection, adaptée aux paysages exceptionnels, est inopérante pour les paysages ordinaires, qui sont pourtant l'écrasante majorité. Techniquement simple, mais socialement complexe, la logique du projet procède autrement. Pour elle, le paysage n'est pas un objet de science, mais une représentation collective à construire avec les populations concernées. La démarche opère par "bricolage" d'histoires et de lieux d'ancrage banals chemins creux, bornes, toponymes, édifices, etc. assemblés dans un "récit commun" dévoilant le territoire et mettant en continuité un passé pluriséculaire avec les questions du jour. Réflexion théorique et professionnelle, l'ouvrage apporte un témoignage rare sur des pratiques courantes d'aménagement local, ces gestes toujours recommencés d'appropriation collective qui constituent un territoire en "paysage", une population en "collectivité" et cette collectivité en "auteur" de son propre destin.

Des interventions d'aménagement dans de petites localités de Suisse romande témoignent de la possibilité et de la fécondité d'une autre voie, celle du "projet". L'enfeu est énorme. La logique de la protection, adaptée aux paysages exceptionnels, est inopérante pour les paysages ordinaires, qui sont pourtant l'écrasante majorité. Techniquement simple, mais socialement complexe, la logique du projet procède autrement. Pour elle, le paysage n'est pas un objet de science, mais une représentation collective à construire avec les populations concernées. La démarche opère par "bricolage" d'histoires et de lieux d'ancrage banals chemins creux, bornes, toponymes, édifices, etc. assemblés dans un "récit commun" dévoilant le territoire et mettant en continuité un passé pluriséculaire avec les questions du jour. Réflexion théorique et professionnelle, l'ouvrage apporte un témoignage rare sur des pratiques courantes d'aménagement local, ces gestes toujours recommencés d'appropriation collective qui constituent un territoire en "paysage", une population en "collectivité" et cette collectivité en "auteur" de son propre destin.
