Summary:
MORQ is an Italian office established in 2001 by Matteo Monteduro, Emiliano Roia, and Andrea Quagliola. Their work ranges from small-scale projects to large landscape and urban plans, with meaningful spaces integrated within simple and thoughtful buildings, in dialogue with existing conditions. As such, MORQ sees constraints as a starting point for its designs, not impediments to creativity. Featured in this issue are fifteen small-scale works, both built and unbuilt, that demonstrate the studio’s talent for envisioning intimate yet open spaces that engage with shades of natural light, changing throughout the day and activated by the emotive and sensorial qualities of the materials.

Summary:
This publication bridges architecture and textile by exploring fiber architectures from the micro scale of biological systems to the macro scale of textile and built structures. Selected case studies, essays, and interviews reflect on cultural practices and materials research through the lens of textile thinking. In the quest for sustainable and resilient approaches that meet the challenges of our time, the book presents fascinating approaches heralding a paradigm shift by working with fibrous materiality: structures become flexible and adaptive, they interact with their environment. As a source of inspiration, the book assembles exceptional contributions from the fields of architecture, art, material science, cultural history, design, engineering, mathematics, microbiology, and textile technology.

Summary:
This concise book is the first publication of Sarah Charlesworth’s (1947–2013) photographic series collectively entitled Stills. Charlesworth made a name for herself as a member of the New York–based Pictures Generation artists when, in 1980, she produced this series of 14 large-scale photographs. Like her previous work, the images were appropriated from newspapers, which Charlesworth re-photographed. The images that comprise Stills hauntingly depict people falling or jumping from buildings, the suspended moment further dramatized by the photographs’ scale: Charlesworth’s prints measure over six feet tall. Following an essay by Matthew S. Witkovsky, this publication presents Stills in its entirety for the first time.
