Summary:
Through a collection of essays and case studies, ''Water Works'' shows over sixty careful responses to flooding, draught, pollution, extraction and other issues around freshwater. Divided into seven themes: Purity, Wild, Scale, Representation, Violence, Infrastructure and Commerce, ''Water Works'' allows us to learn from places and makers that build on the intricate relationships between people and other life forms, materials and (infra)structures. Critically blending knowledge derived from craft, art, science and ecology, these works ask: what are sensible ways to embrace and connect with water? Through wading, floating, testing and tasting, how can we generate more desirable ecosocial relations? In facing large-scale engineering, climate change, privatization and other forms of water violence, these works are an invitation to design together with water as a site and medium for ecosocial renewal.

Summary:
Since 2007, American photographer Jade Doskow has been documenting the remains of World’s Fair sites, once iconic global attractions that have often been repurposed for less noble aspirations or neglected and fallen into decay. Lost Utopias brings together the substantial body of work that Doskow has completed over the past decade, including iconic monuments such as the Seattle Space Needle, the Eiffel Tower, Brussels’ Palais des Expositions and New York’s Unisphere. Doskow’s large-scale colour photographs poignantly illustrate the utopian architecture and art that has surrounded the World’s Fairs, across both the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Presented in a handsome, large-scale hardback book, Doskow’s work carries a unique sense of both grandeur and dreaminess, whilst also reflecting upon the often temporary purposes that these structures once held.

Summary:
Sol LeWitt (1928-2007), renowned for his role in establishing Conceptualism and Minimalism as dominant art movements in the postwar era, is perhaps best known for his masterful and brilliantly colored wall drawings. Throughout his career, however, LeWitt also created many remarkable three-dimensional works suitable for display in outdoor settings. In this publication, which accompanies the first major career survey of LeWitt's "structures," the artist's modular works are traced from their simplest manifestation in a single large-scale cube through multiple variations, with examples from the 1960s through the 1990s. Works from the 1980s onward explore the three-dimensional possibilities of diverse geometric forms, such as stars, and the introduction of new materials, including concrete block and fiberglass, stimulating experimentation with non-geometric, irregular forms on an increasing scale.

Summary:
''Oscar Tuazon: Building'' collects works spanning more than twenty years, presented as a visual essay on experimental space-making that culminates in the two major exhibitions of the artists' work planned for 2023. Balanced on the fulcrum between sculpture and architecture, the work of Oscar Tuazon uses processes of modeling and construction to transform the spaces of exhibition into a field for performative, improvisatory forms of building. Tracing a trajectory of sculptural interruptions in the utilitarian-built environment, the career survey at Kunst Museum Winterthur frames the progression of Tuazon's work through a series of objects. The project at Bergen Kunsthall concentrates on the scale model as a propositional device for imagining other spaces, as well as a means of temporary occupation of the exhibition space, culminating in a 1:1 scale model of the artist's current work Water School.

Summary:
As relevant as when it was first published in 1968, groundbreaking director and cofounder of the Royal Shakespeare Company Peter Brook draws on a life in love with the stage to explore the issues facing a theatrical performance—of any scale. He describes important developments in theatre from the last century, as well as smaller scale events, from productions by Stanislavsky to the rise of Method Acting, from Brecht’s revolutionary alienation technique to the free form happenings of the 1960s, and from the different styles of such great Shakespearean actors as John Gielgud and Paul Scofield to a joyous impromptu performance in the burnt-out shell of the Hamburg Opera just after the war. Passionate, unconventional, and fascinating, this book shows how theatre defies rules, builds and shatters illusions, and creates lasting memories for its audiences.
