This volume is a gathering of Native North American contemporary artists, musicians, filmmakers, choreographers, architects, writers, photographers, designers and more. It centers individual practices, while acknowledging shared histories, to create a visual experience that foregrounds diverse approaches to concept, form and medium as well as connection, influence, conversation and collaboration. ''An Indigenous present'' foregrounds transculturalism over affiliation and contemporaneity over outmoded categories.

Summary:
"The racial cage" delivers a spirited and polyvocal analysis of how race is materialized through both metaphorical and literal cages. It theorizes the cage, fence, dragnet, and tube as material–semiotic sites for racialization and for iteratively redefining the human–animal boundary. A collaborative conversation across continents, this work examines the racial cage as an important part of the practice of social division and bodily containment. The deeply considered result is an empirical and theoretical approach to biohumanities that productively interrogates its linkages to critical theories of race and racism.

Summary:
Created in conjunction with Icelandic artist Tumi Magnússon, Swiss artist Roman Signer's close friend and frequent traveling companion, the book mixes personal snapshots with anecdotes, reminiscences, and humorous observations about travel, the natural world, the differences between Switzerland and Iceland, and—as with any conversation between artists—the difficulties of making art, no matter where one calls home. When You Travel in Iceland You See a Lot of Water is thus a travel book unlike any other, one whose authors simultaneously invite you along on a journey and extend a hand in friendship.

Une conversation animée entre Phyllis Lambert et Mirko Zardini sur l'histoire et la philosophie de la publication au CCA se déroule à travers le guide.

Summary:
Complex Order was born of a necessity to build a conversation around the work of spmb [São Paulo-Manitoba], in dialogue with other practitioners, artists, architects, theoreticians, and critics, mapping out the regions of understanding of what they do. Complex Order generates a public space of sorts, stretching the discussion of public space itself—its poetics and politics, its actions and representations. Rather than follow the tradition of the monograph, centred in the production of the individual artist, Complex Order rethinks the artist’s book, investigating the relationships of spmb’s work within a larger context.

A conversation with the artist by Jennifer Burris completes the volume.
