Summary:
Following the theme of her previous publication Support Structures (2010) and written in the intimate format of a conversation, artist Céline Condorelli explores the history and philosophical nature of friendship. London-based Condorelli, who has shown at the Centre Pompidou and Serpentine Gallery, is most interested in what friendships have been left out of normative, patriarchal history. Why is the philosophical discourse dominated by or only about men? Why have no women philosophers written about friendship? And what about friendships between other excluded groups–slaves or pirates? Through conversations with sociologist Avery F. Gordon, philosopher Johan Frederik Hartle and curators Nick Aikens and Polly Staple, this thoughtful book addresses the practice of friendship as a way of being in the world, and most importantly, how friendship conditions the way we work together.

Summary:
This volume brings together the paintings and drawings of Elizabeth Murray (1940–2007) and the work of New York–based sculptor Jessi Reaves (born 1986). Despite the generations that separate Murray and Reaves, this publication highlights each artist’s lyrical, playful, and rigorous engagements with the decorative, domestic, and bodily. Published to accompany an exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, this book explores Murray’s and Reaves’s often ambiguous conceptions of the body and the home, wherein both body and home are continuously coming together and falling apart. The publication features a newly commissioned conversation between Reaves and Johanna Fateman, as well as a reprint of a historical interview between Murray and Kate Horsfield, which together chart the two artists’ irreverent plays with color and form, high and low cultural references, and notions of masculinity and femininity.

Summary:
In No More Play: Conversations on Urban Speculation in Los Angeles and Beyond , American architect Michael Maltzan traces the transformations that have taken place in the city of Los Angeles since the early 1990s. Through a series of conversations with the city's leading artists and intellectuals, Maltzan explores such issues as real-estate speculation and future urban development, infrastructure, resources, site density, urban experience, political structure, commerce and community, attempting to transform our understanding of how each affects present-day Los Angeles. Intended to facilitate further dialogue on how to define the “City of Angels” at a moment when its identity is in significant flux, the book includes contributions by Iwan Baan, Catherine Opie, Sarah Whiting, Charles Waldheim, Matthew Coolidge, Geoff Manaugh, Mirko Zardini, Edward Soja, James Flanigan, Charles Jencks and Qingyun Ma.

Summary:
Architecture is a collaborative art, calling on the efforts of not only architects but also engineers, developers, plumbers, electricians and others. The production process must balance individual empowerment and general management to allow for meaningful dialogue between diverse professionals. This publication explores these interactions through ten interviews with professionals who contribute to architecture in various ways. Conducted by writer and editor Brendan McGetrick, and originally published as a series for the Chinese edition of Domus magazine, these conversations illustrate the many facets of architectural practice. Interview subjects include : Michael Rock (Founder of the graphic design firm 2x4), Lu Zhenggang (Founder of the digital rendering company Crystal CG), Barry Bergdoll (Curator of Architecture and Design at The Museum of Modern Art, New York), Mark Wigley (Dean of Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation) and Tan Xiaochun (Chief of Construction for China's National Stadium).

Summary:
Edelaar Mosayebi Inderbitzin Architects was founded in Zurich in 2005 by Ron Edelaar, Elli Mosayebi, and Christian Inderbitzin. Their work encompasses design and realization of building projects, urban planning, exhibitions, and publications, and the garden has long been a recurring motif, featuring prominently in many of their architectural projects as idea, vision, or built space. In their exhibition Garden at Architektur Galerie Berlin in 2016, the architects foregrounded that theme and, in collaboration with Swiss landscape designer Daniel Ganz, transformed the gallery space into a living garden. This book presents that installation and offers insight into its creation through striking photographs. Essays by the architects and Stephen Bates, and a conversation with the trio conducted by Martin Steinmann explore the meaning of the garden in a selection of their projects also from a historical and theoretical perspective.

Summary:
Both a learning platform and a pedagogical experiment, Urban School Ruhr is built upon the foundational belief that experts and amateurs can, together, build a space of critical exchange and knowledge transfer. USR prioritises exchange and dialogue that is not necessarily attached to specific outcomes, results or interventions in built reality, instead understanding conversation as the first step to co-producing cities. "Explorations in Urban Practice", the first edition in the Urban School Ruhr Series, draws from and reflects upon USR’s experiences to date whilst also looking to the future of urban practice in contemporary cities. The book presents the reader with key current questions in the field: how can we learn city making? How should we understand the political concept of commoning for this purpose? And how can we discuss intervention as a strategy for enacting urban change?

The exhibition history tells it all: Valie Export, Harun Farocki, Dan Graham, Sanja Ivekovic, Mary Kelly, Edward Krasinski, Gordon Matta-Clark, Gustav Metzger, Walter Pichler, Martha Rosler, Adrian Piper and Allan Sekula have all shown there, often for their first solo outing. Generali has also commissioned works by artists such as Maria Eichhorn, Andrea Fraser, Hans Haacke, Dorit Margreiter, Mathias Poledna, Marjetica Potrc and Heimo Zobernig. In this power-packed book, numerous installation views and texts provide a review of the foundation's comprehensive program, whose context and genesis are discussed in a conversation between the foundation's long-time Director Sabine Breitwieser and art critic Sabeth Buchmann.

Summary:
Published on the occasion of Marcel Dzama’s (born 1974) collaborative ballet with choreographer Justin Peck and musician Bryce Dessner at the New York City Ballet, ''The Book of Ballet'' documents the genesis of all aspects of the project. It begins with “The Most Incredible Thing,” the Hans Christian Andersen story on which the ballet is based, and presents Dzama’s costume designs. The images not only show final design decisions, but also chart the changes in costumes as the project unfolded, and the ways in which Dzama’s conception of the characters in the ballet evolved. The book closes with a conversation between Dzama and Peck in which choreographer and artist discuss their collaborative process, and the important role of renowned composer Dessner in bringing the project to life. Also included is a poster made specifically for this book by the artist.
