Jong Won Rhee's photographs of scenes of contemporary everyday life in South Korea. The human subjects of Jong Won Rhee's photograph are, for the most part, turning away or turned in upon themselves. In fact, the characteristic blue rooftops, blooming poppies, garish billboards and store signs, the bundled spring onions at a market stall and the lush fields of South Korea all seem more colorful than the people we come across in these scenes of contemporary everyday life there.

Summary:
In Hungarian Cubes, German-Hungarian artist Katharina Roters explores the one aspect of the Magyar Kocka that could be individualized: the ornamental decorations on their facades. Roters strips the houses she photographs of all surplus details, clearing out fences, railings, antennas, road signs, power lines, and the like, which enables the viewer to focus on the ornaments—and to see how they offered a rare opportunity for individualism and even protest under the conformity of the communist system.

Summary:
A handful of years after he arrived in New York from Tokyo as a young Neo-Dada sculptor, Arakawa began producing two-dimensional works that brought together text and schematic images. These "diagram paintings," begun in the mid-1960s, offered elusive combinations of signs and shapes with words and phrases. With these paintings, he sought to stimulate the formation of mental images by the viewer--and for the viewer to engage both mind and eye in the act of perception.
