Summary:

// After having explored the meanders of interpersonal violence in the previous issue, Violence Psycho, we now focus our attention on the effects of violence in the alarmingly unbounded context of globalization. Violence without end, violence without borders; the unlimited aspect of the phenomenon is flagrant. One could say that the more globalization makes itself manifest, the more violence appears. Also, one could ponder on the reasons for this and attempt to comprehend the underpinnings of such violence and rationalize it; the fact remains: violence stems from an irrational source, from collective folly and excess, for all intents and purposes. ''The political voice'’ is the subject of the second volume of ''Sonic Urbanism'' publications. This volume explores the political voice as a particular sonic phenomenon, asking how and where it is possible to have a '‘voice'’ in urban politics, the relationship between material and metaphorical readings of political speech, and how voices can be amplified or silenced in cities. Responses explored vocal contestations and noisy citizenship, technologies that transmit or transform voices, and the ways that sound art and experimental music stage collective voicings.

Summary:
''A User's Manual to Claire Fontaine'' explores the work of the feminist conceptual artist collective Claire Fontaine through the lens of her theoretical and political innovations, both inside and outside the context of contemporary art. Theorizing the ways in which Claire Fontaine's experimental approach can illuminate a more haptic, embodied practice of critical theory, this book delineates a series of theoretical techniques and procedures at the core of the artist's work, among them defunctionalization, Institutional Critique, human strike, tactile mimesis, desubjectivation, détournement, magic materialism, and feminist materialism.
