Summary:
''The Weltanschauung as an Ersatz Gestalt'' was Turnovský’s thesis, written in 1978 as a requirement to complete his studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. For more than thirty years, it has remained unpublished—until now. This facsimile publication sheds new light on the development of his theoretical trajectory by revealing Turnovský’s interest in the philosophy of “open systems” as proposed by the Italian novelist and semiotician Umberto Eco. Turnovský applies the logic of open systems to the architectural design process, which allows for a personalized perception that may differ from both the collective experience and the creator’s artistic vision.

Summary:
The work of Didier Faustino focuses on the relationship between body and space. Since 1995, he has operated at the boundary between art and architecture, creating large installations and projects that incorporate the subversion of spaces and the exacerbation of our senses. These are often characterised by their fictional dimension, critical stance, and ability to offer new experiences to the individual and collective body. In ‘Vortex Populi’ he explores how the architectural form can exist within transversality. The project’s central theme is the violent clashes between protestors and authoritarian forces, and the structures and spatial oppositions that emerge.

The author notes, "This book traces the journey of those Indigenous people who have found a way to transcend the colonial identities which are the legacy of our history and live as Onkwehonwe, original people. It is dialogue and reflection on the process of transcending colonialism in a personal and collective sense: making meaningful change in our lives and transforming society by recreating our personalities, regenerating our cultures, and surging against forces that keep us bound to our colonial past."

An intricate tapestry of personal and collective memory, Mashid Mohadjerin’s work interweaves photography, text, video, and archival material to explore displacement, resistance, and identity. She reconstructs the past not as a distant realm but as something tangible, living within language, inherited trauma, and memory. In "Riding in silence & the crying dervish," the tension between imposed identity and self-definition is key to the artist’s exploration of masculinity and how it is shaped by war, colonialism, nationalism, and religious ideology. Through the lens of her father’s memories, Mohadjerin reveals how even the simplest actions become acts of quiet defiance.

D for Dummy Woman, M for Monster’s Tools, S for Style Defense, U for Unstable Signs—The "Glossary of undisciplined design" presents a feminist unpacking of the field of graphic design, offering "undisciplinarity" as the solution to a discipline that has historically featured a multitude of dogmatic rules, discriminatory structures and a particularly one-sided canon. Carried by a decidedly fragmentary and collective backbone, The Glossary of Undisciplined Design combines a multitude of theories and narratives of varying densities and forms, from visual essay, to hands-on experiment, to interview or advertorial, to poem, to speculative tale and scholarly writing.
