Summary:
This striking catalog, designed by Irma Boom, showcases the spectacular work of world-renowned contemporary artist Olafur Eliasson. Contact, Olafur Eliasson’s inaugural exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, addresses the themes of light—or rather, darkness and shadows—space, and time in installations that create a visceral experience for the spectator. The book features critical essays, an interview between the artist and curators, and sketches and preparatory drawings. It showcases the artist’s works in full color on black paper, emphasizing the luminosity of the show, accentuating the interplay of shadow and light, and rendering this volume a collectible artist’s book.

Summary:
Yoko Ando envisions textiles that are one with architecture. For buildings and the spaces they create, textiles are a medium as any other. Translucent sheets change how things look, something which varies with the nature of their transparency and relationship with light. Textiles are, in this sense, similar to light, as both exist between people and architecture, acting as mediators – whether of the space, the materials, or the encompassing order. Ando’s textile designs thus create experiences within architecture, as part of the architecture itself. The book also includes a conversation between the designer and architect Toyo Ito.

Summary:
Lucien Hervé (b. 1910), one of the great architectural photographers of the twentieth century, collaborated with Le Corbusier from 1949 until the renowned architect died in 1965. Hervé approached his subjects seeking not only to document the buildings he was commissioned to photograph but also, especially, to convey a sense of space, texture, and structure. Through light and shadow, Hervé defined the dialogue between substance and form. By delineating a strong contrast between light and shadow as well as placing emphasis on building details, the photographer was able to communicate the depth of a room, the surface of a wall, or the strength of a building's framework.
