This is a collection of 19 interesting examples demonstrating countless architectural solutions available for houses with minimal space. Owing to their proportions - often related to the budget - minimal houses tend to be based on a light structural system, generally based on wooden frames or thin metal sections, which also make the building easy to construct on isolated or inaccessible plots of land. These homes can hide ingenious elements inside, such as folding tables, hanging beds, translucent panels, and highly efficient storage areas. This collection of 19 new projects presents practical, contemporary examples that demonstrate the countless architectural solutions available for houses with minimal space.

This is how they describe it in this issue, which explores their unique design process, featuring their projects, drawings, and models, and covering more than 25 years of work. The magazine is organised into four sections, shedding light on a process of thinking in pencil that they pursue uninterruptedly, whether in their projects or in their classes. Full of insightful and intense lessons, the array of projects is accompanied by texts from architects Jorge Otero-Pailos and Jan De Vylder, who decipher these musings of sketches and tracings.

Summary:
Elegant and magnificent, conservatories reveal fascinating social, cultural, botanical, and engineering advances as they have evolved across history. First appearing in the eighteenth century as simple structures designed to protect fruit trees and other delicate plants from harsh European winters, conservatories became grand glass houses that spread across the European continent, to the Americas, and ultimately around the world. Through archival and contemporary photographs, drawings of landmark structures, and accessible text, ''The Conservatory'' celebrates the patrons and designers who advanced the technology and architectural majesty of these light-filled structures. The importance of conservatories continues to grow with efforts to conserve phenomenal plants and their environments.

Summary:
Black Spaces thematises the phenomenon of a space without light. How can such a seemingly limitless space be grasped? How can space be conceived and designed if the parameters actually contradict the spatial dimensions? A project group at the Technical University of Munich has examined the topic from different perspectives. Conversations with the architects Donatella Fioretti, Astrid Staufer and Francesca Torzo explore this architectural phenomenon. Additional brief bon mots and quotations come from architects, artists and filmmakers, who illuminate the subject very differently. This book shows the results of the design work using selected examples that accompany the textual content of the book as a separate storyline.

With articles by Luis Fernández-Galiano and the architects themselves, this monograph examines the principles and methods behind the seeming simplicity of the work of the two Japanese architects, and unveils the keys to the radicalness of their architecture, extremely light and immaterial.

Vo Trong Nghia heads a leading architecture firm in Vietnam. Following his training in Japan, the architect returned to his home country with the humble ambition of preserving its essential landscapes in the face of booming urban development and prosperity. Peaceful forms in dialogue with the environment, pavilions of exact geometry and vernacular inspiration, and light structures where bamboo replaces steel are typical of his work. VTN Architects explores various paths in terms of form and technique, yet with the common pursuit of sustainability and an active social agenda, wherein vegetation also takes a central role. Fifteen works and three prototypes are featured in this volume.

Summary:
This book invites readers to see Postmodernism in a new light: not just a style but a cultural phenomenon that embraces all areas of life and thrives on complexity and pluralism, in contrast to the strait-laced, single-style, top-down inclination of its predecessor, Modernism. While focusing on architecture, this book also explores aspects such as urban masterplanning, furniture design, art and literature. Looking at Postmodernism through the lens of examples from around the world, each chapter explores the movement in the UK on the one hand, and its international counterparts on the other, reflecting on the historical movement but also how postmodernism influences practices today.
