Summary:
Trespassing is an action that runs counter to the design of a city. Trespassing means physically to enter without permission, but also metaphorically, to subvert and ignore the rules and norms of the city. To trespass is to critique the concept of ownership, the idea that we must pay, obey, or ask permission to occupy urban space.

Summary:
The ''Subjective Atlas of Groningen'' brings together a diverse group of Groningers mapping the province and what it means to be “at home,” in order to share and make visible the personal, but often invisible, experiences of various resident groups in Groningen. Created through participatory workshops and public activities – including exhibitions, events, and participatory sessions across the province – the project invites local communities to share their stories, becoming visible both physically and online. In seven workshops organized by the partner organizations, approximately 80 participants explored their vision of “being at home” in Groningen. Through creative sessions, they reflected on personal themes and developed visual contributions, fostering interaction and providing space for diverse perspectives and stories.

Featuring detailed descriptions of seminal buildings, such as the Knox House and the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge, alongside engaging discussions about composition, classicism, technology and critical regionalism, "Ends middles beginnings" is a must-have for anyone interested in architecture and the built environment.

Summary:
This volume provides a critical look at that which has been a watershed in Perrault’s creative development, namely the realization of the Olympic Velodrome and Swimming Pool in Berlin. It examines his recent works which have been characterized by a continuous attention to research on architectural language and the relationship between public and private space in an attempt to trace a “third way” — moving towards an integration with the environment in which the geographic matrix and experimentation take precedence over historical aspects. The volume features two very recent projects under way started in 2004 and 2003 respectively : the Ewha Women’s Campus in Seoul, Korea and the new Mariinsky Opera House in Saint Petersburg.

Summary:
With a focus on social reality and a respect for local context and vernacular craftsmanship, Liu Jiakun's work shows a rare attempt to translate and transfer traditional Chinese cultural ethos into contemporary architectural language, and represents a fine quality of intertexture between individual and collective memories. Many of these projects throw light on the reciprocal relation between Chinese people's public life and urban cultural space. Aedes exclusively presents mainly local projects in Chengdu including West Village Yard. The exhibition unfolds urban evolutionary history and the genius loci of the city, as well as demonstrates Chengdu's humanistic standpoint in practicing a new model of urbanization. It aims to open a new chapter of urban development dialogue between Germany and China.

Jakarta Megalopolis focuses on two projects in the title city by artist and architect Stani Michiels and artist Arjan van Helmond. Each grapples with Jakarta's housing culture, the experience of private as opposed to public space and the consequences of city migration, as well as the city's infrastructure, increasing density, and its coherence--or lack thereof--as a whole. As megalopolises in developing countries undergo explosive growth, their cultural, social, political and economic complexities are developing at unprecedented rates. That phenomenon is drawing more and more attention within the world of architecture and art, and Jakarta Megalopolis offers a case study of its complexities, a cutaway view of this chaotic new world.

Summary:
The highway has become the buyway. Along the millions of miles the public travels, advertisers spend billions on images of cola, cars, vodka, fast food, and swimming pools that blur past us, catching our fleeting attention and turning the landscape into a corridor of commerce. A smart, succinct, and visually compelling history of the billboard in America, Buyways traces how the outdoor advertising industry changed the face of American commercialism. Taking us from itinerant bill-stickers of circus posters in the 19th century to the blinking, beeping, 3-D eyesores of today, Gudis argues that roadside advertising has turned the landscape itself into a commodity to be bought and sold as advertising space.

Summary:
Architect Angela Pang brings together design, research, and teaching. Her Rational Form Making approach explores a fundamental question: How can we build more with less? Operating from her studio, PangArchitect, in Hong Kong and Boston, and as an Assistant Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, she combines precise analysis, digital methods, and experimental modeling to drive architectural innovations. In search of objectivity in form-making, Pang’s approach merges creative freedom with explorations between natural forces and material-conscious efficiency to discover a new design process. At the heart of the exhibition at Aedes is a striking experimental prototype—a 3D-printed pavilion at the scale of 1:2.5 of an ongoing project for a public space in Hong Kong.
