Summary:
Margherita Spiluttini (*1947) is one of Europe’s most renowned architectural photographers firmly anchored in an art context. Dovetailing commissioned works with freelance work since the early 1980s Spiluttini has produced a body of work characterised by a meticulous, clear-cut and unpretentious imagery and an approach to architectural and landscape motifs that is always considered, in terms of both content and medium. The buildings and structures depicted by the artist are showcased not in spectacular views or in isolation for advertising effect, but always in the context of their everyday surroundings. The book accompanies the same-named exhibition conceived specifically for the Landesgalerie Linz in co-operation with Die Photographische Sammlung / SK Stiftung Kultur, Cologne. It focuses on the visual perception of architecture as a constructed space and place.

Summary:
This book is a comprehensive investigation into photographic works by artists from the African continent and its diaspora. Taking the politics of the “colonial gaze” as its starting point, Events of the Social looks at the diverse complexity of the nineteenth-century archive through a selection of vintage portraits, cartes de visite, postcards and album pages. Three generations of African artists from the 1940s till now then chart the changing features of African societies through portraiture, exploring notions of the self, gender, sexuality, race, social status and politics. The book also examines landscape and the built environment, showing how architecture and spatial planning convey social order and ideology while reflecting experiences of migration, colonialism, war and industrialization. Another group of artists, born after the mid-1970s, explores issues of social identity, lineage, questions of belonging and personal experiences.

What does the ideal capital look like? Photographer Nick Hannes traveled to six countries – Egypt, Korea, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Brazil – that have recently built a new capital or are in the process of doing so. Each and every one of them is a typical example of what Rem Koolhaas calls the Generic City: a planned city without historical layers, local identity, or its own character. As a visual sociologist with a sharp eye for detail, Hannes searches for the human dimension in a setting full of spectacular architecture and pompous prestige projects. "New Capital" is a critical reflection on unbridled neoliberal urban development and its social and ecological consequences, but is also peppered with subtle humor and surprising coincidences. Meandering between pride and sadness, "New Capital" shows how utopia and dystopia are sometimes surprisingly close.

Summary:
Published on the occasion of the exhibition " Nicolas Faure, Landscape A " - Musée de l'Élysée, Lausanne, 17 november 2005 - 5 february 2006. Nicolas Faure has been working on the theme of Swiss landscape since the 1990s, concentrating in particular on the blend between the Traditional and the Modern. The motorway is the meeting point of technology, architecture and a certain concept of Nature, and through his photographs, Faure elicits aspects that characterise Switzerland. A landscape always has a cultural component and landscape is one of the major concerns of Swiss culture. The motorways, which criss-cross the country virtually, divide it. They constitute a whole “new territory”, enlivened by apparently natural but essentially man-made surroundings. These “natural surroundings” are but illusions. These places are the epitome of paradox: built amidst concrete artefacts, they are not accessible to visitors and almost invisible to motorists.

Summary:
This book explores a uniquely Roman type of building, the palazzina—a four- or five-story residential structure of the most meticulous design, built during the Italian economic miracle between the 1950s and ’70s. ''A Beautiful Game'' focuses on the extraordinarily imaginative entrances of these buildings. Over many years, Heiner Thofern (born 1959) photographed palazzine during his evening wanderings throughout the north and west districts of Rome. It was the intricately conceived and constructed entrances, realized mostly through collaborations between architects and artists, that particularly caught his eye. ''A Beautiful Game'' reveals the varied treasures of Thofern’s photographic archive, a rich collection that allows us to examine the particular sense of play and passion for beauty that shapes this era of Italian creativity, a delight in la bella figura, and a desire to constantly reinvent the possibilities of design and architecture.

Summary:
This catalog traces German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans' unique 2025 project at the Centre Pompidou, for which he was given a generous carte blanche. The result occupied the entire second floor of the Public Information Library, where Tillmans' experimental installation transformed the space, establishing a dialogue with the former library and questioning it both as architecture and as a locus for the transmission of knowledge. The work explores over 35 years of artistic practice through various photographic genres and constitutes another very personal representation of his universe, whose order and logic are activated in response to the library space. With 600 images, an index of the works alternates with numerous installation shots that show how the artist made this space his own, while a varied selection of essays by a younger generation of authors sheds new light on the various aspects of Tillmans' work.

Summary:
''Rotation'' is an ongoing photographic series exploring how urban development reshapes our relationship with space—public, personal, and imagined. It invites viewers to reconsider orientation, perspective, and the fragility of boundaries between the built environment and the body. Referencing the disorientation of outer space—where gravity dissolves the idea of ‘up’ and ‘down’—the series plays with visual perspective and suspension. Many images are shot through glass, integrating reflections that allude to invisible connections between people and places. This use of light and surface evokes a sense of weightlessness and fluid identity. Since 2021, Rotation has evolved through collaborations with over 20 organizations across cities such as London, Berlin, Stockholm, and Warsaw. With more than 70 works created so far, the project continues to map spatial perception through image-making—blurring lines between architecture, motion, and memory.

Summary:
This monograph on the work of Austrian architect Carl Pruscha (born 1936) is divided into the three geographical areas into which his life and legacy falls: the United States, Kathmandu and Vienna. Following his study of architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Pruscha spent the early 1960s at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, constantly in search of inspiration and visions. An invitation by the UN to go to Nepal in 1964 enabled him to establish himself there as a practicing architect, embarking on various construction projects and the Kathmandu Valley Development and Preservation Project. After returning to Vienna in 1978, he became the head of the Academy of Fine Arts. The three sections in this book are accompanied by photographic portfolios by Iwan Baan and Hertha Hurnaus, numerous project documentations and a detailed timeline.
