Summary:
Graziani is a collector of objects, not a storyteller. With the meticulous eye of an archivist, he detaches things from their context, revealing them to us. Whether the object of his photographic exploration is a stack of aluminum profiles, a mock-up of a window section, or an artwork, it is “objectified” in the same way, contributing portrait and to question Finstral‘s production facilities as well as the idea of the window itself. The fact that it is shown primarily through its form, independent of its function, gives it a sculptural quality. Picture Window Frame is a book designed by Giulia Cordin and a traveling show with the exhibition design by Brussel architectural firm Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen.

Summary:
Accompanying the first US survey and largest exhibition to date dedicated to Thai artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, "Rirkrit Tiravanija: A LOT OF PEOPLE" traces four decades of Tiravanija’s multifaceted practice. Spanning rarely seen early works from the 1980s through recent projects, the publication covers Tiravanija’s experimentations with installation, film, works on paper, ephemera, sculpture and participatory works. Designed by Tiffany Malakooti, the publication features over 400 images as well as 23 newly commissioned texts. Longform essays by exhibition curators Ruba Katrib and Yasmil Raymond, as well as scholars Jörn Schafaff, David Teh and Mi You, dive into key aspects of Tiravanija’s work, providing historical context. These texts are complemented by 18 short reflections from artists, thinkers and collaborators who have been key interlocutors with Tiravanija over the years.

Summary:
Author Hilary French provides a comprehensive introduction to this building type, from its industrial beginnings in London and Paris to New York City’s Lower East Side and the 20th-century designs of Le Corbusier, Antonio Sant’Elia, and Mies van der Rohe. Lavishly illustrated, the book examines different formal typologies of urban housing: terrace and row houses, quadrangles and courtyards, city blocks and infill (or renovated and reused sites), and towers and slab blocks. Thirty-six case studies from fourteen countries are presented by architects including Steven Holl, Richard Meier, KoningEizenbergArchitecture, Eduardo Souto de Moura, and Renzo Piano. Each is illustrated in full color and is accompanied by detailed plans and sections that discuss the needs of the site and place the project in its surrounding context.

Summary:
This book sheds a new light on one of the most important and probably oldest topivs of European urban architecture : the street. Taking Genoa and Berlin as typological examples, a toal of 22 individual house plans were drawn up in the context of an experiment in design ; each represents a fresh, creative planning possibility in view of the current redensification of urban space. The publication documents the assignments and results of a European project carried out among students of architecture in Postdam and Genoa under the overall diection of Klaus Theo Brenner. The resulting designs are complementaring one to another to generate an image of the street which is, in the tradition of the " strada nuova " in Genoa, developing to a magnificient project for the ideal city.

Summary:
In the space of barely a decade, the Groningen-based architecture bureau Onix has established an impressive reputation. Far from the hub of Dutch architecture in the Randstad conurbation of major cities in the west of the Netherlands, Onix has been working on its oeuvre with highly idiosyncratic views about the essential aspects of architecture. In many of its projects, such as the much-discussed ecological farm for the disabled in Haren, the bureau seeks out novel positions where the context and specificity of the local play an important role, yet without ever falling into the traps of facile historicizing solutions. Even more important for Onix is the view that contemporary architecture is overly dominated by concepts and images, and too little by actual architectonic experience.

Summary:
From the Studebaker and the Slinky(r) to the TWA terminal and paintings by Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko, 1940 to 1960 was a compelling era for the arts in America. Artists and designers responded to the atomic-age anxieties of the postwar period with "vital" forms-organic imagery and biomorphic shapes based on nature. These forms proliferated during the optimism of the late '40s and '50s prosperity, in Tupperware(r) and the Hula Hoop as well as Eames chairs and Calder mobiles. Examining visual arts from an interdisciplinary perspective, "Vital Forms" focuses on the development and ascendancy of organic imagery. Essays placing the works in historical context are by Paul Boyer, Martin Filler, Mildred Friedman, and Karal Ann Marling.
