Summary:
Based on a workshop held under Bunschoten's guidance, the central question in this book is how to deal with the modern city, a conglomerate of built-up areas scattered over the landscape seemingly without any coherence. A collection of interventions and additions are proposed which offer solutions on both conceptual and structural levels.

Summary:
A history of modernism in the teaching of architecture, landscape architecture, and city planning at Harvard. This book tells how modernism evolved in the celebrated design school in America. Tracing developments at Harvard, whose Graduate School of Design was home from 1937 to 1952 of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, it shows that America had initiated its own modern agenda before the arrival of the European modernist ideology. Anthony Alofsin is Roland Roessner Centennial Professor of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin.

Summary:
Led by Edward P. Bass Distinguished Visiting Architecture Fellow Marc de La Bruyère and Claire Weisz founding principal of WXY Architecture Students of the Yale School of Architecture sought to investigate and propose history-conscious proposals for housing in Edmonton, Canada, a city poised for future economic growth. The students assessed how climate, economic forces, and urban contexts impacted the composition of housing typologies over time in various contexts and then focused on “Gateway Sites” in Edmonton. The students created proposals that utilized innovative housing schemes and applied socially responsible real estate development to form solutions for local ecological, social, and marketing challenges.
