Summary:
From transparent glass to milky glass, from delicate simple shapes to Phoenician designs, in over 400 pages and 900 images, ''The M.V.M. Cappellin Glassworks and the Young Carlo Scarpa'' tells an essential chapter in the history of Murano glassmaking. In 1925, Giacomo Cappellin (1887–1968) broke with V.S.M. Cappellin Venini & Co. to become one of the most important glass companies in Italy, in no small part thanks to its collaboration with the young architect Carlo Scarpa (1906–78). The entire output of M.V.M. Cappellin from 1925 to1931, when the glassworks was forced to close, is documented in this gorgeous volume. ''The M.V.M. Cappellin Glassworks and the Young Carlo Scarpa'' offers a wealth of information for scholars, collectors and art lovers, including, in addition to its images, information on the production and exhibition of Cappellin Glassworks in the United States and France.

Summary:
This volume gathers and expands upon the results of the research project "Theater, Garden, Bestiary: A Materialist History of Exhibitions," held at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne, and proposes a history of exhibitions sourced from a wide corpus reaching beyond the framework of art institutions. It undertakes a transdisciplinary history at the nexus of art history, science studies, and philosophy, exploring the role the exhibition played in the construction of the conceptual categories of modernity, and outlines a historiographical model that conceptualizes the exhibition as both an aesthetic and an epistemic site.

Summary:
An essential characteristic of textiles is their richly intertextual nature. Textiles: Open Letter stems from an exhibition at Museum Abteiberg, Germany, plus an extensive research project (2010 14) examining the place of textiles in the history of art and culture, media, society and technology through various voices. Representing traditions found in both applied and fine arts, textiles hover between formalism and functionalism; as objects and techniques, they mediate between self and world, between affect-driven and knowledge-driven processes of appropriation. Functionally versatile, textiles are the fulcrum of an ensemble of activities, and illustrate relations between subject and object, material and immaterial, artistic and artisanal labor, and different cultures.
