Multihyphenation refers to alternate modes of creative production: "collab" culture, "brand X brand" projects, and multiple or even opaque styles of attribution and ownership among individuals, studios, and practices. For them, the body of work they produce matters more than maintaining a singular creative identity as an individual designer, architect, artist, etc. But is this practice actually new? Architects, curators, fashion designers, scholars, and artists were invited to question the theme from different vantage points. A highlight of the issue is a visual folio featuring more than 40 multihyphenated works that exemplify complex strategies for navigating creative practice today.

Summary:
"Vivienda industrializada" focuses on housing and industrialization, opening with an article by Eduardo Prieto on the possibilities and boundaries of this practice, still today caught between the promise of technology and the logistical inertia of conventional construction. In this context, a selection of six projects completed in Spain explores different ways of integrating design, manufacture, and assembly within the residential sector, in a progression ranging from the domestic to the collective. That same pragmatism is evident in the work of British architects Jonathan Sergison and Stephen Bates, whose practice is explored here through their recent projects.

Summary:
Hermann Czech gained recognition in Europe in the 1970s with projects based on a strategy of continuation and convention instead of contrast. His work includes homes, hotels, schools, and urban planning, as well as small-scale interventions and exhibition design. In rejecting facile connections between theory and practice, he developed a multidimensional, critical and early postmodern position amid a climate of reformation and avant-gardism. Guest-edited by Christian Kühn of Technische Universität Wien, this issue explores the many facets of Czech’s architectural thought and practice through works ranging from furniture design to urban-scale infrastructure.

Drawing on many lively examples from the world of architectural practice, the book makes a compelling argument about the agency of architectural design and the role architects can play in re-ordering the world we live in. Following Latour’s philosophy offers a new way to handle all the objects of human and nonhuman collective life, to re-examine the role of matter in design practice, and to redefine the forms of social, political and ethical associations that bind us together in cities.

Has architectural theory become a historical phenomenon to be anthologized and studied as another passing phase in the history of the discipline? Do the current commonplace watchwords of "practice" and "research" mark the end of theory's place in architectural discourse? The Artful Plan explores the potentials of architectural drawing at a turning point where digitization is setting drawing free from its conventional function of conveying technical information. What can architectural drawing be today? What new options does it offer for creativity in design? Which new ways does it open for including knowledge and methods from the arts, academic research and current architectural practice? The Artful Plan lays out the theory and practice of alternative innovation in architectural drawing in three parts: reconfiguring the conventional drawing; drawing responding to the influence of the digital; and the expanded field of drawing today.
