AP154.S1.1973.PR01.SS2
Description:
Sub-series AP154.S1.1973.PR01.SS2 Addition from Pasanella + Klein Stolzman + Berg (2007) contains records donated by Pasanella + Klein Stolzman + Berg in 2007. The sub-series documents interior design and renovation projects by Pasanella + Klein or Pasanella + Klein Stolzman + Berg dating from approximately 1978 to 2007. Some of the projects in this subseries have been identified by Tom Stetz as being related to Article 26 of the 1980 lease agreement between the landlord Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America and the tenant Joseph E. Seagram and Sons. A copy of the lease agreement is present among the textual records of this subseries. Renovation projects documented in this sub-series include interior design projects for the 5th and 6th floors, proposed modifications for the "Picasso Alley" area, and unrealized schemes for an elevator and wheelchair ramp for the plaza. There are also some original drawings for furniture designs. The sub-series also inlcudes digital files containing font typefaces for the building's display alphabet. A substantial part of the subseries is composed of documents from the 1950 and 1960s that are related to the original design and construction of the Seagram Building. These documents include twelve rolls containing approximately 500 copies of working drawings from the period 1955-1963. The original design is further documented by a 1955 outline of specifications for work and materials.

AP056.S1.1987.PR03
Description:
This project series documents renovations and expansions to the Dorchester Corporation offices in Chicago from 1987-1988. The office identified the project number as 8736. This project primarily consisted of the expansion and renovation of the offices located on the 23rd and 24th floor of the historic Jeweler's Building located at 35 East Wacker Drive. The client, Marex Properties Limited, requested the interior modernization of the terracotta-faced building, without compromising its historical character. This included the general update of public spaces, the redesign of typical office corridors, washrooms, windows and signage. The 23rd floor was gutted and rebuilt with a new glass façade, exterior deck and interior layout. An additional 4,000 square feet of space was added to the 24th floor by pushing the exterior walls outward. A complete upgrade of life safety, HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems was also implemented. Led by Marianne McKenna and Thomas Payne, this project won the 1990 Modernization Award of Excellence from Buildings Magazine. The project is recorded through drawings and photographic materials dating from 1987-1989. The drawings are mostly originals and include sketches, presentation drawings, plans and elevations.

Description:
This project series documents the Piscina de Marés in Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos, Portugal. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 9/60. The office assigned the date 1961. Piscina de Marés was built between 1961 and 1966. The project included two salt water pools, one for adults and another for children, and changing rooms. A restaurant was later added in 1965. The pools were embedded in rock formations situated on the northern coastline of the Atlantic Ocean in Matosinhos. Siza used concrete to build the pools and walls while preserving some of the rock formation. There was also restoration work done for both the pools and the restaurant in the mid 1990s. The project series includes sketches, elevations, plans, and details, as well as correspondence and project documentation. Photographic materials document the project site, the built project, the model, and drawings. Also included are panoramas of the built project and aerial views of the project site. Note that photographic materials related to the 1995 renovation are also found among these materials, however the rest of the materials related to the renovations are in subseries Recuperação da Piscina de Marés (AP178.S1.1995.PR01).
