Summary:
The Mexican firm Tatiana Bilbao Estudio takes centre stage in this issue, with projects that are representative of values developed over nearly two decades of practice. The studio prioritises the communities for whom it builds while also seeking to understand the socio-environmental frameworks. Evident from the studio’s portfolio is a playful approach to scale, geometry, and materiality. Projects range from large-scale master planning and building design to residences and precise interventions that serve an existing community, such as reconstruction following a disaster. Further, a selection of key exhibitions captures the breadth of the studio’s research into private and public space.

Summary:
This issue highlights the work of adama-faiden, founded in Buenos Aires in 2005 by Sebastián Adamo and Marcelo Faiden. Nearly two decades of work is traced through 34 projects in chronological order. From small residential projects in their early years, the studio has transitioned into an increasingly diverse practice, including a high-rise in central Buenos Aires and social housing in Europe. Regardless of scale, what remains consistent in their work is a considered approach to urban environments and a sensitivity to airflow. Their designs often feature permeable facades and cohabitating plants, creating a soft, fluid connection between interior and exterior.

Summary:
The meeting of photography and Germany evokes pioneering modernist pictures from the Weimar era and colossal digital prints that define the medium’s art practice today. It also recalls horrifying documents of wartime atrocity and the relentless surveillance of East German citizens. This publication broadens these perceptions by examining photography’s multi-faceted relationship with Germany’s turbulent cultural, political and social history. It shows how many of the same phenomena that helped generate the country’s most recognizable photographs also led to a range of lesser-known pictures that similarly documented or negotiated Germany’s cultural identity and historical ruptures.

Seven contributors write about Nagasaka and his practice – including long-time book lover Hiroshi Eguchi, who helped produce this edition – while Nagasaka in turn responds with his thoughts on architecture and design, plus his own work and activities beyond building.
