'From Gardens Where We Feel Secure' is gardener and writer Susanna Grant's exploration of her thinking on history, value and meaning of nature in the city. Examining the premise that naming species allows us to expand our understanding, our interest, our ways of looking at the world around us, and the idea of plant-blindness-our tendency not to see what we can't name in the nature that surrounds us-she throws a spotlight on five of her favourite wildflowers with accompanying images by photographer Rowan Spray. These stories are interspersed with reflections on Grant's own countryside childhood and her work in London's community gardens.

"The order of landscape" presents a powerful insight into the work of a forefront figure in contemporary landscape architecture, João Gomes da Silva. Through an extensive duotone photo essay by João Carmo Simões, a collection of texts and a set of plans, the book unveils this seminal body of work. Beginning in 1987, with Álvaro Siza in the Malagueira plan, Gomes da Silva’s career has decisively marked Portuguese contemporary architecture. From Serralves Museum Garden to Madeira’s Seafront Promenade and Lisbon's riverfront, his particular conception of new grounds proposes a formality without formalisms and a naturalness without naturalisms.

Photographer Takashi Homma began producing a series of books as an homage to Edward Ruscha in 2014, with each publication taking a new form through its changing subject matter. While the technique is an imitation of Ruscha’s 1964 book ‘Various Small Fires’, this fifth instalment in the series attempts its own adaption of the original by focusing on a theme not examined by Ruscha. Thus we are presented with all manner of hoses, but mostly garden hoses, looping and snaking randomly as they were abandoned after the last use. Also, as the title suggests, one of the hoses is actually a snake

Summary:
One of the first built projects of Eduardo Souto Moura, Casa das Artes was designed in the early 1980s and completed construction in 1991. The building is located in the gardens of a neoclassical mansion in Porto, dating from the beginning of the 20th century. The competition programme proposed a cinema, auditorium, an exhibition gallery, and required that the surroundings be preserved as they were. According to the architect, ''Work was not allowed to interfere with the garden. Omitting was more important than proposing, deleting was more important than designing, and simplicity more important than composition'' This monograph reflects his very minimalistic approach.
