Summary:
Laura Benedetti Klein a découvert 'Reclining Figure: Arch Leg (LH610)' sur le chemin qui la menait à son travail. Elle traversait la Promenade de l'Observatoire à Genève, pour échapper au trafic et chercher l'ombre bienfaisante d'un hêtre pourpre centenaire. Elle aperçut ensuite cette sculpture monumentale d'Henry Moore près de l'arbre. Le feuillage se reflétait sur le bronze luisant. A cette période, en 2003, elle avait acheté un appareil moyen format analogique pour apprendre à photographier de manière lente et précise. La sculpture lui a semblé être le sujet idéal ...car elle ne bougeait pas ! elle n'avait ainsi aucune pression à trouver « l'instant décisif » si cher à Henri Cartier-Bresson. Elle se sentait inspirée par la méthode dite « Straight Photography », celle de la photographie pure, une technique appréciée des photographes américains Alfred Stieglitz et Edward Weston. La photographie pure exige une composition rigoureuse qui transcrit la réalité. Toute modification ou intervention sur le négatif est évitée. Elle a photographié cette sculpture monumentale de 2005 à 2013, en tournant autour d'elle, encore et encore, de manière presque obsessionnelle, capturant et mémorisant ses formes sous toutes les lumières du jour, en toutes saisons et durant certaines nuits.
