Help write a living history of the La Mitis region. Led by visiting researchers of the Mitis River landscape, this participatory workshop invites you to collaboratively map how people have lived, worked, and settled here, embracing diverse perspectives.
Following a brief exploration of historical land inhabitation and management (revealed through vegetation patterns, soil profiles, settlement forms, and place names), community members and Jardins de Métis visitors are invited to translate collective memories and local knowledge into a shared cartographic narrative. Contribute colloquial names, pinpoint meaningful places, and describe the landscape’s notable features, enriching a communal archive of the landscape. Enjoy an evening of conversation and creative mapping, fueled by refreshments inspired by the land itself.
This event is taking place in the context of River, Shore, Land: Ecological Futures at the Jardins de Métis, the third and final year of a project undertaken by the CCA in collaboration with the Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens as part of the CCA Master’s Students Program.
