CCA Research Network: The Place of Research@London

CCA elsewhere, in English, Royal College of Art, Battersea campus, London, 4 November 2025, 1pm to 5pm

The Place of Research is a new event format that brings together and activates members of the CCA Research Network, an entity representing alumni from our research programs. Each year, the CCA will convene a series of site-specific gatherings that will allow network members to share research in progress. The event will highlight the ongoing concerns of the Research Network, position the network as a medium of exchange and support, and create concrete encounters to bring together alumni around compelling and urgent research questions. We convene the first of these gatherings at the Royal College of Art’s Battersea campus in London on 4 November.

London-area CCA alumni will share their current research and discuss the Research Network’s core concerns: Who is the work for? And where does the work land? The dialogue will reflect on architectural research amid global crises, question its audiences, and rethink practices that are tied into land-based paradigms of enclosure and extraction, while exploring possible tactics of refusal, repair, and reparation.

The event is hosted by CCA Research Network Steering Committee member and RCA faculty member Huda Tayob, who will be joined by fellow committee member Pelin Tan, and Rafico Ruiz, Associate Director, Research, CCA. Each round of presentations will be followed by a conversation moderated by Dubravka Sekulić and Emilio Distretti. The afternoon will conclude with a conversation between Pelin Tan, Professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Batman in Mardin, Turkey, and Nishat Awan, Professor of Architecture and Visual Culture at University College London’s Urban Laboratory.

Presenters include Nishat Awan, Jingru (Cyan) Cheng and Chen Zhan, Davide Deriu, Casper Laing Ebbensgard, George Jepson, Anna Garcia Molina, Shukri Sultan, Rosy Tam, and Pelin Tan.

The event is free and open to the public. Please register and get directions here.
