Zine Launch: The Urban Unknown / CCA Youth Collective

Special Event, in English and French, CCA Bookstore, 27 November, 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Please join us for the launch of The Urban Unknown, a collective zine project developed by the participants of the CCA Youth Collective.

Over the past months, participants aged 15 to 18 have taken part in research, editing, and publishing workshops led by the Public Programs team, with contributions from CCA Publications, Matthias Kreutzer of Our Polite Society, and l’Abricot studio. The project explores how self-publishing can become a tool for observing and reflecting on the city.

Each participant designed a zine that combines an individual and a shared component, connecting personal research with a collective view of Montréal’s urban landscape and uncovering the subtle textures, traces, and narratives that shape it. The works were designed and printed using risograph techniques introduced during the program. Copies will be available at the CCA Bookstore.

This event is free of charge, but space is limited, so registration is required.

The CCA Youth Collective is part of Diverse Pasts and Near Futures, a CCA program that invites young people to engage critically with architecture and the city, where Black, Indigenous, and POC narratives are often underrepresented. It aims to make design and museum environments more accessible, foregrounding diverse perspectives and supporting youth in shaping their understanding of the built environment.
