Join Rafico Ruiz, Associate Director, Reseach for a lecture at the Academy of Architecture at the Università della Svizzera italiana where he will offer tangible insights by navigating through the recently processed Papineau Gérin Lajoie Edwards (PGLE) fonds at the CCA.

PGLE was a Montreal-based architectural firm that worked in Canada’s northern territories throughout the 1970s and 1980s. They often relied on the use of petroleum-based materials, including fibreglass-reinforced resin—one of the principal elements in their design for school projects that supported the Canadian government’s damaging Residential and Day School systems.

This lecture will foreground how to follow the margins of archival collections and how writing accountable histories of trauma requires moving beyond singular narratives of settler colonial control.
