The subject of this lecture develops from Ulrich Keller’s interest in the relationship between art, photography, history, and politics, which he has explored in numerous publications, including Reitermonumente absolutischer Fürsten, Staatstheoritische Voraussetzungen und politische Funktion (1971), The Building of the Panama Canal (1983), The Warsaw Ghetto in Photographs (1984), and The Ultimate Spectacle: A Visual History of the Crimean War (Gordon and Breach: London, 2001).
Ulrich Keller was a CCA Mellon Senior Fellow in 2001.
