Solarity: After Oil School II concludes with a public conversation with Nandita Badami, Elena Bennett, Amanda Boetzkes, Melina Laboucan-Massimo, and Kyle Whyte.
Solarity gathers international scholars, students, artists, activists and practitioners for three days of critical reflection and collaboration on the challenges and possibilities of social transition to energy systems and communities organized around the energy of the sun.
The conference is organized by the Grierson Chair in Communication Studies – McGill University, Petrocultures Research Group, and Future Energy Systems – University of Alberta, and hosted by CCA.
Nandita Badami is a graduate student of Anthropology, UC Irvine. Elena Bennett is Associate Professor, School of Environment & Department of Natural Resource Sciences, McGill University. Amanda Boetzkes is Professor of Contemporary Art History and Theory at the University of Guelph. Melina Laboucan-Massimo is an Indigenous Knowledge and Climate Change Fellow at the David Suzuki Foundation. Kyle Whyte is the Timnick Chair in the Humanities, Michigan State University.
