The CCA Emerging Curator Program 2019-2020 “Patterns of Rural Commoning” investigates countryside communities that develop unique forms of living, working, and producing, through three case study workshops in Gerswalde, Germany. Read Niklas Fanelsa’s essay Not mere travellers, which introduces the project.
The first workshop explores wood construction with Ronald Klemmer. We will make traditional wood joints from local resources and assemble a lightweight garden pavilion in the experimental garden space Kalklaube.
Ronald Klemmer is a master carpenter and conservator based in Gerswalde. He trained as a carpenter in Waren, Germany, and has worked as a journeyman in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Brazil, India, and the UK.
Location: Dorfmitte 7, 17268 Gerswalde
Local Partner: Loewen.haus
This is the first of three workshops. The cost to participate in each workshop is CAD 75 (approx EUR 50) plus service fees, with a 20% discount on participation in all three. Each workshop is limited to 12 participants. A dinner concludes the series; participants from all three workshops are welcome.
Lodging is not included with the purchase of tickets for all workshops, however, on-site accommodations may be arranged. Niklas Fanelsa for more information.
