Models Talk: A CCA c/o Tokyo Video Series

Online conversation between Giovanna Borasi and Kayoko Ota, with the participation of Studio Gross, Kumiko Inui, Kazuko Akamatsu and Erika Nakagawa
Event, in English, online, 8 December 2021, 8pm (Montréal) / 10am (9 December, Japan)

Models Talk is a series of three videos produced by the CCA with Kayoko Ota and Studio Gross that profile recently completed and in-progress works of architectural design emerging from today’s Japanese context. In each video, an architect leads us through their project, guiding the viewer through the problems, concepts, and inventive propositions that underlie the work.

The conversation between Giovanna Borasi, CCA Director, and Kayoko Ota, architectural curator and editor, focuses on how these works challenge conventions in order to address contemporary urban issues. Collaborators on the project Studio Gross and architects Kumiko Inui, Kazuko Akamatsu and Erika Nakagawa will also be present to answer some questions.

From 2018 through 2020, the CCA worked with Kayoko Ota to develop research and projects and to facilitate public engagement in Tokyo. This collaboration was part of the CCA c/o program, a series of temporary initiatives that are locally anchored in different cities worldwide. The CCA c/o program also functions as a tool to reveal issues of general relevance that emerge from different contexts than our own, as well as a strategy for defining new thematic explorations and adding new perspectives to ongoing conversations about architecture.

The event is free and open to the public. To attend, please register.

The three videos are launched in collaboration with Dezeen on 1, 2 and 3 December, 2021.
