To celebrate the launch of our publication AP205 Amancio Williams: Readings of the Archive, we invite you to join us for a lecture by historian Luis Müller on Amancio Williams’s innovations through an analysis of his creative process, proposals, and investigations.
At 6pm, Luis Müller will present his lecture in our Paul-Desmarais Theatre. At 7pm, we will move to the Bookstore for a book launch with graphic designer Matthias Kreutzer (Our Polite Society) and Alexandra Pereira-Edwards, Editor (CCA). A brief conversation will be followed by a celebration until 9pm.
Williams, regarded in Argentina as one of the greatest architects of all time despite his limited body of constructed work, has garnered the interest of many scholars worldwide. His work can be understood in terms of exploration, as he continually probed the discipline’s boundaries through his creative process. In essence, his work embodies a set of principles that enabled him to view each opportunity as a challenge to propose unique and transformative solutions.
Luis Müller is a Professor of Architectural History and Director of the Master’s in Architecture program at Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo - Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Santa Fe, Argentina). His research focuses on the modernization processes of architecture in Argentina and Latin America, and his doctoral thesis “Amancio Williams. Invention as a Project” is soon to be published. He has published extensively in Argentina and internationally, including two titles on the work of Wladimiro Acosta and compilations on state production architectures in the second half of the 20th century, among others. He is a guest lecturer at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and has previously lectured at various universities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and Uruguay.
