First issue contains note to reader on page 211 [i.e. 121] above errata (leaf L₅r), and printing privilege conferred by Pope Paul III on page 122 (leaf L₅v). According to Harvard College Library. Catalogue of books and manuscripts. Italian 16th century books, the privilege was omitted entirely from second issue when leaves L₂ and L₅ were reset to accommodate additions to the errata.

Woodcuts: large white historiated initials; large white-on-black foliated initials; the Dorico printer's device on p. [1] at end, featuring Pegasus scaling a rocky cliff, with motto "Invia virtuti nulla est via", within oval medallion; text includes 23 woodcut illustrations: 2 maps (including a double-page map of Rome signed by the calligrapher Giovanni Battista Palatino), 9 architectural plans, and twelve drawings of statues--Laocoön and his sons, and the Etruscan bronze Capitoline Wolf are of particular note--and buildings and architectural details, such as the Pantheon, Constantine's Church of Santa Costanza, and the Arch of Septimus.

First illustrated edition of an early work on the classical art and architecture of Renaissance Rome, the first folio edition, and the third edition overall. Urbis Romae topographia, first printed by Antonio Blado in an octavo edition in 1534, was one of the most popular scholarly guidebooks on the archaeology and antiquities of Rome.
